Leaving Austin

It’s been such a weird experience for us all to slow down from traveling for three months in a place that feels like “home.”

In the beginning, it was actually quite shocking to our system to be plunged back into some amazing friendships that we’d missed over the year and also into a rigorous athletic and music lesson regime. We packed a lot in so quickly! All the kids played soccer. Isaac took an awesome Outdoor Survival Class, and Jadyn also took gymnastics. We also hit the books with intensity, knowing a winter season of snowboarding lay ahead.

The weeks breezed by too quickly! We celebrated the boys’ birthdays with friends and family coming into town -awesome time! And we managed to squeeze in a few favorite hikes and meals with friends at great new hot spots. The kids hung out with neighbor friends as much as their soccer schedules allowed. Our empty playroom was perfect for indoor soccer and gaga ball, Gabe and Sage captured some great footage doing parkour all around Austin.

It was all a blast!

There’s something so real and comfortable in these familiar friendships – for both ourselves and our kids. We have a collective history of memories together as families, and it’s been neat to keep adding to them. We will miss that!

I think our friends have figured us out, though. They all told us it’s easier for us to leave them this time! 😉 They know we can keep in touch over the miles, and they know they can come find us in cool places.

Looking forward to it for sure, but to all our friends here, please know how grateful we are for you and how much we will sure miss you!
