Bishop, CA

After hiking around Yosemite National Park and Death Valley National Park, it was really refreshing to spend a few days in downtown Bishop. This quaint town has gorgeous views, friendly locals and an enjoyable downtown area. We were able to walk down from our hotel room for meals at Schat’s Bakery and then take our backpacks filled with books to work in the park, with playtime in between.

The kids’ best friends, the Halls stayed just minutes down the road in an RV park and joined us in the late afternoon to play beach volleyball, ride skateboards, and try tricks on the slackline. In the evening, even the dads came out to join us for a fun game of soccer!

We’d love to come and stay here in Bishop for a longer period of time, either in the winter to snowboard at Mammoth, or in the summer again for longer day hikes to Baboon and Donkey Lake. Great access to the Sierra’s! But for this first trip of ours, we couldn’t have been more pleased!
