Rialto Beach

You know those days and times when you feel like every door you try to open is just locked? It almost feels like there is someone behind the scenes trying to send you a message and you just can’t decipher? Well, today was one of those days.

We had wanted to spend quite a bit of time at Freshwater Bay just outside of Port Angeles – but nope, too rainy (although we did spot a harper seal in the water – score!). So, then we wanted to hike to M falls close to Crescent Lake, but nope, more rain, and Don was on an important call. Then we drove all the way down to Sol Duc Falls to see the its waterfall but didn’t jive with the lunch cooking set up in the rain, so again, nope.

In the early afternoon, we finally decided to check into our hotel in Forks, WA (setting of Twilight so we’ve learned), and received the amazing tip to visit Rialto Beach. BINGO! This was it. This was where we were meant to spend the most hours of our day today! The Pacific Ocean!! Sunny skies, gorgeous sunset, tide pool creatures seen first time “in the wild,” and campfire and dinner under the driftwood logs. Couldn’t get any better than this! Thankful for great attitudes and “go-with-the-flow” kind of days. I’m learning to let go of expectations and not getting bummed.
